Cycling, horseback riding, surfing, visiting historical landmarks… there’s no shortage of activities in the ten villages that make up Île de Ré. Many visitors are particularly drawn to exploring the various ports of the island, also known as "Ré Blanche." These sites are steeped in history and retain a charm that is both authentic and unique.

The Ports of Île de Ré

  • Rivedoux-Plage Port This is the oldest of the four ports on the island. Its construction was approved by authorities as early as 1562, but it wasn’t until 1845 that a jetty and a pier were added, fostering the growth of maritime trade. It is also the first port one encounters when arriving on Île de Ré. Visitors particularly enjoy the stunning view of the bridge connecting Ré Blanche to the mainland.
  • La Flotte-en-Ré Port This is a favorite strolling spot for both locals and tourists. Its central location in La Flotte makes it easily accessible, just steps away from the market, restaurants, and lively terraces. Various events, including concerts and fireworks, enliven the port during the summer holidays.
  • Saint-Martin-de-Ré Port The Citadel's ramparts and the port they protect are among the treasures of Saint-Martin-de-Ré’s heritage. The port itself is situated at the heart of the town, bustling with activity year-round. It’s a delightful place for a leisurely walk, with many shops, restaurants, and bars to explore.
  • Ars-en-Ré Port Ars-en-Ré is one of the towns located in the northern part of Île de Ré. Its port flourished during the height of the wine and, especially, salt trade. While it no longer serves as a powerful trading hub, its modern activities focus primarily on tourism and navigation.

The Marinas of Île de Ré

In fact, the island's four ports all have berths designed to accommodate pleasure boats. The port of Ars-en-Ré is the largest marina on Ré Blanche, with 550 floating berths. The port of Saint-Martin-de-Ré can accommodate up to 280 boats, both at the quay and on pontoons, with 50 of these spaces reserved for visiting pleasure boats. Many boaters also stop at the port of La Flotte, which has 200 pontoon spaces and 150 communal mooring spots. Lastly, a section of the port of Rivedoux-Plage is also reserved for pleasure boaters.
